Mary Suhm, City Manager, City of Dallas
Books: I read multiple books at a time, so the best way to tell anyone what I am reading is to “locate” the books in my daily life. On the end table in the living room—Gail Thomas’s new book, Healing Pandora, Antoine De Saint-Exupery’s Wind, Sand and Stars, Lancaster and Stillman’s When Generations Collide, and Doris Goodwin’s Team of Rivals.
On the coffee table are a tour guide to Peru(planning a trip), running books, including Born to Run (why did I agree to run a leg of the White Rock Marathon), Barbara Kingsolver’s new book The Lacuna, and Speak, So You Can Speak Again, a sort of multi-media biography of Zora Neale Hurston.
On the bedside table are three new fiction titles—I am part of a team of Texas Libraries Association members reviewing new fiction for a “best” list for the year. The last one I read, set in Amish country with formerly Amish female police chief as the protagonist, was particularly good–by Linda Castillo, a Texas writer. I am barely keeping up with that assignment.
In the car are some paperbacks by Jeffrey Deaver, Stuart Woods, David Baldacci (I love thrillers)…not while driving, only if I end up waiting somewhere.
Carol Reed recommended I get a Kindle. With some hesitation, because I really enjoy the physical aspects of books, I did. Thanks, Carol, it was a great idea. It’s always in my purse. The current contents are McCullough’s The Great Bridge (recommended inspiration for anyone involved in a bridge project), Bingham’s Inca Land Explorations in the Highlands of Peru, a Spanish language dictionary, and The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

It is very good for anyone to make a lot of contribution in knowing about the different types of good things there. This is really a special moment in knowing about the proper things there.
A big thank you for your article post.Much thanks again.
Thank you so much, this was very interesting. I was actually born in Spain (I’m not telling you when though!) but moved around europe and finally settled in England when I was 6. I dont remember an awful lot of the few years I was in spain, but the smell of spanish food always seems to get me going or something. It’s weird how I dont remember anything except the smells, isn’t it! I even found a whole internet site dedicated to spanish recipe, which gave me great delight and thought I really should to share with your readers. Anyway, thank you again. I’ll get my son to add your feed to my rss app…
I just could not leave your web site prior to suggesting that I really enjoyed the standard info a person supply in your visitors? Is gonna be again regularly in order to check out new posts
